Walking With Dinosaurs will be on the Discovery Channel on Easter Sunday. Same old animation, new talking head bits. I'm gonna be a talking head. So are some other Padianites--should be a Padianlabstravaganza. Watch it or die.

Hallo Matt!
At first congratulations for those publicity in TV.
I know it is completely off-topic, but as you are a true expert about sauropods and I am not, and because there is a lot of old and often false information in the web, I prefer to ask some direct questions to you about sauropods (I surely could also ask Darren, but you have most probably even more knowledge about this topic). I suppose the answers to my questions are already somewhere at your blog, but it would be very nice to help a lazy man.
So here are my questions:
-What kind of metabolism was most probably common for sauropods?
-Was there a change of their metabolism when they grew older and larger?
-What effects had their masses on their metabolisms?
I know those questions sound stupid, but it would be really great if you would answer them.

Best wishes

You don't want to ask those questions here. You want to get on over to SV-POW! (Sauropod Vertebra Picture of the Week) and ask them there, where (A) Matt, Darren and I all hang out, and (B) you might get a nice discussion going.

It's true, you'll get better and faster service at SV-POW! I hate feeling compelled to blog unless I've promised that I will. What that means here is that I usually just don't blog about stuff that feels like work, like passing on memes. But SV-POW! carries an explicit promise of frequent blogging and an implicit promise of disseminating science.

Plus, if we answer your questions over there, other people will actually see and possibly benefit from the responses. Or at least call us out if we say anything stupid.

Thanks! Congrats to you, on talking clearly and forcefully and not look like you were falling asleep. I usually talk too fast, and I think I overcorrected--on the show I look like I've just been shot with the tranq gun from JP II.

OMG, thanks to you I now have a Bacon number. I have freakin' arrived!

Congrats, Matt! I don't have television so I missed the show, but hopefully I'll catch the "new and improved" WWD sometime soon.

Thank you for the clarification. I´ll repeat those questions on the "Sauropod Vertebra Picture of the Week"-blog as far as I find time.

I am really sorry to put you off, but I will look forward to seeing--and answering--your questions over at SV-POW! (unless Mike and Darren beat me to them).
